Inbound calls working outbound calls not working

If the answer to this is already on here somewhere I would appreciate it if you could point me in that direction, I could not find it in my searches.

Anyhow the problem I am having, is that we can receive calls just fine, but cannot make any outgoing calls.

Any thoughts on how to fix this? It is kind of an issue not being able to call out.

Additionally if I try and connect one line to another i.e. *1, it goes straight to voice mail.

Turns out the problem was the password for the trunk could not handle an equal sign "="
